Wolf Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
The warm daytime temperatures, along with the night cooling from the fog brought out aromas of blackberry, cassis and anise which carry onto the palate. These complex flavors integrate well with the toasty new French oak barrels. The texture is plush and round with balanced tannins providing excellent long term aging potential. Wine Advocate The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon may eclipse its Cabernet Franc sibling in 5-6 years, but at present it is backward and tannic. Dense blue/purple-colored to the rim, with notes of creme de cassis, scorched earth, tobacco leaf, smoke, and pain grille, this is an impressive, full-bodied, dense Cabernet. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 15-20 years. Score: 92. —Robert Parker, December 2007.Wine Spectator Ripe, intense and concentrated, with a firm tannic wall built around a dense, tasty core of dried currant, spice, hazelnut and fresh earth and pebble notes. Finishes with a compact mix of fruit and tannins. Decant for now. Should age well. Best from 2009 through 2016. 349 cases made. Score: 92. —James Laube, October 15, 2007. |
